Mud Motor Rotors

Trinity carries out reconditioning of mud motor rotors by replacing damaged protective coatings, repair of rotary connections and joining of two damaged rotors in quick turnaround times and cost effective processes.

Protective Coatings

Protective coatings are provided in the form of hard chrome plating or tungsten carbide (WC) coating by HVOF process. These coatings are provided by sophisticated machinery which is supported by skilled technicians for finish polishing providing excellent surface finishes and dimensional accuracy. These skilled technicians also carry out the finish polishing of hard chrome plated rotors. In certain cases, chrome plating is replaced by tungsten carbide when the pitting depth on the rotor is found to be higher than that recommended for hard chrome plating.

Micro porosities formed during coating are filled by the densification process. Trinity provides densification using chemical sealants and baking which increases the life of the coating.

Rotary Connections (Stub Welding)

Rotary connections on the box side are repaired by stub welding or re-chasing and on the catcher side by sleeve welding or re-chasing. Trinity has approved welding procedures with skilled welders for stub welding and sleeve welding followed by stress relieving with the help of portable furnaces.

Joining of Rotors

Trinity also has procedures for joining of rotors. In many cases, rotors are cracked and have to be discarded. In these cases, Trinity can carry out NDT procedures to locate the cracked areas and cut them out and use a similar cut rotor to join them to form a single rotor. This results in significant costs savings as it is much cheaper than the cost of manufacturing a new rotor.
